Maybe Someday – Colleen Hoover

♥♥♥♥

I am beginning to realise that Colleen Hoover books are definitely for me, I love her style of writing, the way she draws you in with her words, and submerge you into her characters’ world.

Sydney is living in an idyllic bubble – she is a dedicated student with a steady job on the side. She lives with her best friend, has a great boyfriend, and the music coming from the balcony opposite hers is fast becoming the soundtrack to her life. But when Sydney finds out her boyfriend is cheating on her, the bubble bursts.

Sydney was a lovable character and I wanted to get up and help fight her battle for her, she meets Ridge the owner of the mysterious music from the balcony opposite her. Ridge is also an inviting character, I have to admit this was the first time that I read a book with a deaf lead character, and the way Hoover wrote him, had me hooked from the start.

A great read that had me hooked from the first words. Would recommend this if you are a music lover and love romance. This was a will they, won’t they story and had me guessing until the end.

A Piece of My Heart – Cindi Page

♥♥♥♥

What a wonderful debut for this author. I absolutely adored the story, and fell in love with the characters.

Victoria is a twenty-four year old who has run away from something that happened to her. When she lands in Istanbul she is hurried into a last minute job where she meets Alkan, a Turkish businessman. The two of them have a “Will they, won’t they” relationship which keeps you guessing to the end.

I loved that there was a South African flair in the story, each time Victoria spoke about the wineland’s in Stellenbosch I could picture it in my mind. The shocking realisation about why Victoria ran away from South Africa was heart-breaking, and the way the characters came together was so sweet.

The end did break my heart, and caused me to yell (internally) at the book in the middle of a packed doctor’s office. Definitely can’t wait for the next installment in this story.

The Contract – Melanie Moreland

♥♥♥♥

Richard vanRyan is a tyrant, he works hard and plays even harder. Katharine Elliot works for Richard, and takes everything he throws at him as she has to look after her elderly aunt.

Richard has had enough of working hard and not getting farther in the company, and when he decides to work for the competition he realises he will have to show that he has turned his life around.

He asks Katharine to pretend to be his girlfriend, things soon spiral out of control, and the sparks fly between the two.

This was a quick read for me, the characters are both likable, and both of them have compelling back stories. It is one of those stories where you can guess the outcomes of their predicament, but still very enjoyable. Just what you need to help get out of a reading slump or if you don’t want to get too tangled up with a complex plot
